Waziup e.V. participated in the Nairobi AI Forum 2026, held in Nairobi, Kenya, bringing together innovators, policymakers, technology leaders, and development partners to explore opportunities for accelerating AI adoption and strengthening Africa’s AI ecosystem.
As one of the 10 AI Infrastructure Builders selected under the AI Hub for Sustainable Development’s Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development (AI4SD) initiative, Waziup showcased its AI and IoT solutions designed to address local challenges and support digital transformation across Africa.
The team presented innovations from its European-funded research projects alongside Waziup’s in-house solutions in Edge Machine Learning, IoT capacity building, and WaziLab. These initiatives demonstrate Waziup’s commitment to making emerging technologies more accessible through practical training and technology development for students, TVET institutions, and innovators.
The two-day forum also marked several significant announcements aimed at accelerating Africa’s AI ambitions, including:
1.5 million GPU hours made available through CINECA and partners to support 130 African innovators in developing AI solutions.
New public-private partnerships to advance green and sovereign AI infrastructure.
The co-design of the AI 10 Billion Initiative, aimed at mobilizing up to USD 10 billion in investment and supporting the creation of millions of jobs through AI adoption.
New initiatives leveraging AI in agriculture, climate resilience, healthcare, education, and energy.
These developments reinforced a key message from the forum: Africa’s AI future requires more than computing power. It depends on accessible infrastructure, reliable energy, connectivity, local skills, and partnerships that translate innovation into real-world impact.
For Waziup, this vision aligns closely with our work in accessible AIoT platforms, edge computing, renewable-powered systems, and practical technology training that enables communities, startups, and institutions to apply AI in sectors such as agriculture, energy, climate resilience, and smart industry.
Waziup extends its appreciation to all the partners and innovators contributing to the development of sustainable AI ecosystems across Africa.
We look forward to building on the connections and opportunities created at the Nairobi AI Forum 2026 as we continue contributing to Africa’s AI and digital transformation journey.
