As part of its commitment to strengthening digital skills and promoting IoT adoption in technical and vocational education, Waziup, a partner in the VocalizeIoT project, is supporting the SmartKazi Lab Training Programme.

SmartKazi Lab is an innovative four-week hybrid training programme designed to equip prospective, new, continuing and completed TVET learners with practical Internet of Things (IoT) skills. The programme seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry by connecting learners to industry opportunities and real-world IoT projects.

Participants will benefit from hands-on training, industry linkages, a capstone project and an IoT certificate. The best-performing student will also receive a WaziLab Solution Box and a tablet. Women and young people are particularly encouraged to apply.

The training is scheduled to run from 21 September to 16 October 2026 at The Nairobi National Polytechnic, with daily sessions from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It will follow a hybrid learning approach, combining in-person and remote participation.

Through initiatives such as SmartKazi Lab, VocalizeIoT and its partners continue to promote practical technology education, strengthen industry-academia collaboration and create pathways for TVET learners to participate in the growing digital economy.
